Scent of the Season (Grizzly Box Blind Story 3)

I'm not sure there is any better smell than the combo of apple pies and pumpkin bread being baked simultaneously in our oven. My wife has the perfect recipes, just the right mix of tart Granny Smith and sweet Honeycrisp apples! As for the Pumpkin bread, it's the nutmeg and clove that waft through the house causing our mouths to water and our hearts to anticipate the fullness of the season. Most probably don't realize it, but if you stop and think about your favorite seasons there are always scents involved. Caramel scented candles, burning leaves, and turkey dinners dominate fall. Douglas Fir and cinnamon bring us into late fall and early winter.

As an avid Whitetail Hunter, seasonal scents, shampoos, hand soaps, and my wife's perfume can all turn from awesome to enemy out in the blind. Deer have a sense of smell that far surpasses humans and even dogs. With almost 300 million scent receptors, compared to a dog's 220 million and a human's 5 million, there is just no way you can pick up your camo and give it an accurate "sniff test." From a mile away that deer you are hoping to bag can tell what you had for a midnight snack 5 days ago!
I've been on the hunt for a 12 point beast this fall. I've bagged a doe and started to fill up the freezer, but my mission does not feel anywhere near complete until I land "Buck!" In past seasons I've carefully hung my gear in the garage and attempted different baking soda shampoo and soap mixtures, among other things, to keep my scent down. Trophy's that I've been after seem to have eluded me and I can't help but attempt to calculate how much my scent has played into that. That is one of the main reasons, when I purchased my blind this past summer, I opted for the upgrade and went with the Grizzly Box Blind with Ozone Ports. It feels like an answer to my prayers! (Praying to the Whitetail gods I guess...idk).

With 4 Ozone Ports the scent control allows me to hunt elevated or on the ground without being detected by a deer's uncanny sense of smell. As I shopped around I noticed the ozone ports really give an advantage over competitors' blinds, and most importantly an advantage over the deer. A rotomolded construction, no cracks, and double gasket-sealed windows mean my scent is eliminated outside the blind as long as the windows are closed. Special note here... this does not eliminate scent inside the blind as my 8-year-old will tell you. Better not have chili for dinner the night before a hunt again. What can I say?

This season's story ends well! Adding to the doe I have finally walked in my Grandpa's shoes and taken down a buck worthy to be called "Buck." So many early mornings and late evenings were made more enjoyable for me, and my family that often joined me, on these amazing hunts. The Grizzly Box Blind with Ozone Ports proved to be the perfect match for us, keeping us warm, dry, and ready for the adventures of the season. Actually, that's just what Grizzly promised, and they delivered well. Grizzly, "Adventure Guaranteed!"
